Summary: An original and distinctly Ahlberg interpretation of the game of I spy forms the basis of this picture book which draws on traditional nursery rhyme and fairy tale characters. Each opening reveals a simple rhyming couplet on the left-hand page and a full-page colour illustration on the facing page. The I spy rhyme then leads the reader from one nursery rhyme character to another, and it is necessary to go from the text (on the left-hand page) to the picture opposite where the clues are found.
